Farewell Ol' Friends

by Rtr Fue Yin

Dear PEARLY, LENNY AND GREGORY,

Goodbye, dear friends and graduate!
Our golden time together,
Our time of nothing more than time,
Days of simply being rotaractors.
But we will always treasure how
Your friendship slipped into ours,
Embracing us till the very end.

Thank you dear friends for your contributions to the club
Good luck and God speed

THANK YOU!!!

You have finally reached the summit

And, we are proud of you

You are worthy of this triumph

No one could deserve it more

So, embrace this time before you

Filled with happiness galore.

You have longed for this occasion

And at last, it has arrived

Now, you stand above all others

With your heart and soul revived

From this time, you’ll travel onward

Toward your future aspirations

But this day, enjoy your moment

With my warm congratulations!

Thank you PRESIDENT EUGENE for the great Rotaract year under your wings of leadership

From A Photographer's Memory

by Rtr Fue Yin

Behold the second album of RAC Kota Melaka's journey to the centre of Mount Asahan. Thank you Rtr Robin for the wonderful photographs

There were basically 4 main activities done:

A) splash each other with water

B) Saving a 'damsel' in distress

C) Cooking and pigging all the delicious food

D) Unpacking and balik kampung

Sob sob... However, this will not be the last journey. Stay tuned...

The Challenge Starts!!

by Rtr Fue Yin

Asahan Mountain, here we come!

RAC Kota Melaka planned a weekend away wild camping (okay, its not so wild) on 13-14th June 2009. I was a little concerned as the forecast wasn't too optimistic.

The 15 of us still wild camped, cleaning the rubbish strewn by irresponsible campers and setting up our tents in the rain...

Thank god, the rain stopped. DRR Wee, guests Simon and Jacky were giving us professional development lesson on camp pitching:

With the guide from the professionals, we successfully set up our 'bungalows' *yippee*:

As for the fire ,the guys headed by Simon went wood hunting and managed to set fire out of wet wood! (thumbs up to the guys!!)

While the guys were busy wood hunting, the girls learned photography (another professional development) from Rtr Robin:

This is an example of Rtr Christine's macro shot of a melted marshmallow over an open fire:

What is camping without chilling out in the crystal clear water while sipping on a can of beer (a few actually). While the guys sipped their beer, the girls were busy bathing with the fishes:

As for dinner, President Eugene practically shifted his whole kitchen to the camping site (wok, pans, billy cans, Bunsen burner, kettle, ladle, etc) for cooking.

This was what we had for dinner: Chicken cooked in natural chicken broth, omelet and bean sprout. Do not be deceived by this photo, the food was awesome!!

We spent whole night by the camp fire sing along (thanks to guitarist President Eugene, Rtr Eddie and guest Jacky), melting the marshmallows, barbecuing sausages and chicken wings:

We left Asahan the very next day after another dip in the water. We came home with a community service done, professional developments learned, fun-filled fellowship, unforgettable memories and a broken toenail.

Asahan, we survived!

Smoking Gun

reported by Rtr Fue Yin

Eugene and Jeffrey were so excited when we walked into the shooting range area, located at Kompleks MBMB, Ayer Keroh. The only girl, which is me, exploited into becoming their photographer while they poses with the guns.

Professionals on training. The leather uniform they're wearing was
to hold them steady in position while shooting the air rifle.

Rtns in action. These air rifles are seriously heavy.

Wow! 80% accuracy.. See how the 5 shots clustered together?

Well... we tried our best! At least the Eugene and Jeffrey scored some points.

Posing attempt 1

Posing attempt 2

Posing attempt no ???..... I lost count :p

Rtn Kua trying out some real shooting

Thank you Rtn Kua for sponsoring us some bullets..
A box of bullets of 30s' cost RM90

Eugene: No way I'm gonna miss the target!

Finally, the score!!
Eugene and Jeffrey shot within black circle
(assumption made by the boys)
